The Adamson House is a part of the California State Park system but it is entirely run by volunteer docents, who teach visitors about the City of Malibu. Previously known as Vaquero Hill, the Adamson House is now listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is a California Historical Landmark. The architectural style is old Spanish Moorish or other Mediterranean Revival.

The lush botanical gardens are another favorite here, and specialty garden tours are held here every Friday at 10 AM. The magnificent flower selection was made by covering the natural sand dunes with a layer of hummus. Its six acres of botanical gardens overlook the Malibu Pier and the Malibu Lagoon. Malibu was an isolated village back then, and most supplies arrived by boat from the nearby Malibu Pier.
