With areas such as Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, and Tomorrowland, and all the rollercoasters you can imagine, Disneyland is a great pick for families traveling with kids. But there are also numerous parks closer to Los Angeles. 

Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia is a great choice for bigger kids with some of the nation’s fastest and largest rollercoasters. For the younger ones, taking a trip to Knott’s Berry Farm might be the ultimate place for fun. For kids and adults of all ages, Universal Studios Hollywood isn’t just a film studio, but one of the region’s most popular attractions as well. While the NBC Studios tour brings you to the film location of the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live, the Paramount Studio tour shows you the stages for shows like Dr. Phil and Entertainment Tonight. Going for a puppet show at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater can be pretty awesome, while the trampoline land at Sky High Sports in Woodland hills is another LA limo favorite.

Adamson House

Built for Rhonda Ridge Adamson, the daughter of the proprietor of Malibu Tiles, the Malibu Adamson House is a showcase of family products. Many tourists renting a vehicle are fascinated by all the Chumash- and Tongva Native American history found at the adjacent Malibu Lagoon Museum, which also depicts Malibu’s surfing and ranching history.

The Adamson House is a part of the California State Park system but it is entirely run by volunteer docents, who teach visitors about the City of Malibu. Previously known as Vaquero Hill, the Adamson House is now listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is a California Historical Landmark. The architectural style is old Spanish Moorish or other Mediterranean Revival.

The lush botanical gardens are another favorite here, and specialty garden tours are held here every Friday at 10 AM. The magnificent flower selection was made by covering the natural sand dunes with a layer of hummus. Its six acres of botanical gardens overlook the Malibu Pier and the Malibu Lagoon. From the Adamson House, there are also spectacular views of Surfrider Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The structure was already begun built in 1929 by the Ringe family, which owned most of Malibu at the time. Malibu was an isolated village back then, and most supplies arrived by boat from the nearby Malibu Pier.

Besides the emerging Malibu wine tours, a recent tour that’s become hugely popular is LA limo rides to filming locations throughout the Greater LA Area. The world’s most-producing movie ranch, Iverson Movie Ranch, can still be visited in Chatsworth. Over a thousand motion picture productions have taken place here, from Lassie to Zorro. Several Batman, Tarzan, and Superman movies were also made here. This former movie ranch is old, with filming already beginning in the early 1900s, just a couple of years after the first movies ever were filmed. Its unique location in the Santa Susana Mountains with overlooks of Old Mountain, Simi Valley’s Rocky Peak, and Chatsworth Peak made it an ideal place to film Westerns.

It is also the location where Button Smith (Chuck Connors) tells he is a virgin before a murder in the 1957 pilot episode of Tales of Wells Fargo, an episode called The Thin Rope. This is also the place of a whipping in the Tate episode Comanche Scalps (1960). 

In the horror film The Flying Serpent (1946), we can see the Killer Bird God attack and kill at the ranch. In Zorro’s Black Whip (1944) there’s a scene here where the mountain gets exploded during a gun battle, while it’s the site of Superman’s return to the Earth in Superman (1948). There’s a chariot fight here in the film The Three Stooges Meet Hercules (1962), while the opening of The Lone Ranger (1949-57) also took place here. Other famous series and films include Gunsmoke (1955-75), The Rifleman (1958-63), Lassie (1954-74), Tarzan’s Secret Treasure (1941), and Batman and Robin (1949).

Although the 1950 film Trail of Robin Hood was filmed here, more famous Robin Hood movies were made at the nearby Corriganville with its own Robin Hood Lake and Forest. These places in Corriganville Park in Simi Valley can still be visited by limousine services.
